ASHRAE is asking authors to submit white papers for the society’s 2018 Building Performance Analysis Conference and SimBuild, scheduled for Sept. 26-28 in Chicago.

This year’s conference will go beyond energy modeling to encompass nonenergy building performance and simulations, organizers say. The event is jointly hosted by ASHRAE and the International Building Performance Simulation Association.

“Building performance modeling is transforming the industry to meet the net zero and architecture 2030 design goals, improving operational efficiency and occupant comfort,” said Krishnan Gowri, conference chair. “Incorporating an integrated approach is a method that can deliver substantial gains in terms of designing and assessing the environmental cost of buildings. This conference offers the most current tools and best practices, reducing energy use, maximizing performance, improving aspects of the design and creating a higher performing building.”

Organizers are seeking white papers that deal with issues such as modeling advances; multiple systems modeling; “big data;” health, wellness and comfort; and codes and compliance.

White paper abstracts are due Oct. 23. Final submission of accepted papers will be due Feb. 2, 2018.
