Johnson Controls has a new line of Coleman-brand rooftop units that it says eliminates the need for contractors to use curb adaptors in HVAC construction.

Curb adaptors are usually used when an HVAC unit does not match the exact dimensions of the one it is replacing. But Coleman Peak rooftop units fit directly on the footprints of other manufacturers’ units, eliminating the need for adapters, company officials say.

“In the time it takes to set your fishing rod and reel, you can set a Coleman Peak rooftop unit,” said Eric Newberg, director of commercial product management at Johnson Controls’ Unitary Products Group. “Contractors can remove the existing rooftop unit and set the Coleman unit within 15 minutes.”

The units are available in sizes from 3 tons to 12.5 tons, with seasonal energy-efficiency ratios of 13 or 15.
