BrassCraft Manufacturing has given an endowment gift to a group working to recruit more women and minorities into the construction industry.

The company is partnering with Texas Women in Trades, which aims to bring more females from the Lone Star State into the industry.

"When I became employed in the plumbing industry, I immediately noticed the lack of young people,” said Allie Perez, founder of the group. "There is a disconnect with today's young adults. They are inundated with media an direct mail promoting colleges and the military, but very little is said about the trades. Our goal is to build awareness and promote careers in trades."

For officials with BrassCraft, the decision to work with Perez’s group was an easy one.

"As a longtime advocate for plumbers, BrassCraft Manufacturing is proud to support this endeavor," said Marketing and Product Development Vice President Jeff Jollay. "We recognize the need to promote awareness and recruit younger people to the plumbing industry, particularly women, and are committed to sponsoring this organization."
