I heard an advertisement on the radio the other day that surprised me. It wasn’t for a concert, restaurant or car dealership.

It was for Honeywell’s Wi-Fi thermostat. Honeywell isn’t the first to come out with one for the HVAC market, but the units have been generating some buzz with consumers and in the mainstream press.

With the promise that you can control the temperature of your home from virtually anywhere — your office computer, smartphone while taking a stroll or a tablet computer— they’re pretty amazing. It’s really bringing the “smart home” within reach of almost everyone, which is why I imagine Honeywell is running ads for them.

But I wonder how many people are familiar with the technology. Have your customers expressed much interest in Internet-controlled thermostats? Do they even know what they are? Comment below.
