Hamlin Sheet Metal has always taken pride in being able to offer a variety of material types for spiral round and flat oval duct systems. Last year provided many opportunities for our PVS products. One of those opportunities was the Claude Moore Recreation Center in Sterling, Virginia.

Pool areas have gone through various designs over the years. From aluminum duct, to aluminum spiral, and even fabric duct. On this project, PVS Spiral duct was used in the aquatic center areas due to its excellent recommendation for use in chlorine environments. The engineer was able to achieve the most energy efficient system available by using spiral. The contractor was able to receive long lengths of duct as opposed to rectangular duct. And the owner gets the durability as well as the esthetically pleasing look of spiral duct. The fact that all the duct was to be exposed provided more opportunity for the best handling in the manufacturing area of the shop, the shipping, and the handling of the product on site.

The products were installed by Adrian L. Merton Company out of Capital Heights, Maryland Ronnie Allen, vice president, stated that they were extremely satisfied with the fit, the performance, and the appearance of the spiral duct systems. The Merton team which included Lew Jameson, Andrew Andrysiak, and Jesse Mhoon had nothing but positive things to say about the Hamlin Duct, as well as the assistance offered by Mr. Don Foos of C&H2, who serves as Hamlin’s manufacturer’s representative in the DC market. By looking at the pictures of the completed project, it’s apparent that the folks in the field did an equally good job as the folks in the Hamlin shop.

Projects such as this take good communication, planning, staging, and coordination to provide a quality job, on time. Hamlin, along with the rep and the contractor were able to achieve just that.

Hamlin Sheet Metal is entering its 65th year in business, as a family owned business. Fabricating spiral round, spiral flat oval, longitudinal seam welded duct, as well as rectangular duct for the commercial HVAC industry. Hamlin has two sister companies, Hamlin Roofing Company and Hamlin Fabricated Metals. Hamlin Sheet Metal is proud to be an active member, as well as a charter member of SPIDA, working with this organization to continue to promote the use and the value in spiral duct.
