Wiegmann Associates started the HVAC design and installation and building automation systems project for the St. Charles County emergency management department’s $20 million emergency operations center in O’Fallon, Missouri.
The 1-story, 30,000-square-foot structure will house the department of emergency communications; the emergency management division for the county police; a 1,400-square-foot mission critical data center for county information technology operations; and the countywide emergency radio communications system.
County officials said the new center will bring all of the county’s emergency resources under one roof and increase response time.
The general contractor for the project is Brinkmann Constructors. Wiegmann is the engineer of record and the design-build HVAC mechanical contractor on the project.
Since the facility must continually operate during natural disasters and terrorist threats, the building will comply with ICC500, the design and construction standard for storm shelters and will be designed with 100 percent redundancy, officials said.
