Emerson introduces program to HVAC construction contractors
Educational Services, a business unit of Emerson Climate Services LLC, has launched a five-stage program to help wholesalers better serve their HVAC construction contractor customers.
The new Copeland technical specialist program requires candidates to pass an online refrigeration course and a prequalification exam; attend a compressor operation and service seminar program; attend a weeklong class at the company training center in Sidney, Ohio; and attend monthly online continuing-education meetings following graduation.
Larry Banas, director of educational services at Emerson Climate Technologies, said the program was established to help technical specialists improve their knowledge of Copeland products.
“We saw establishing the new Copeland technical specialist program as an opportunity to create a win for everyone concerned,” he said. “The technical specialist raises his or her level of expertise in regard to Copeland products, which benefits both the contractor customers and the wholesale organizations for which they work. Specialists who complete the program will be industry-recognized technical representatives for Copeland products.”
There was a lack of knowledge about some of the company’s HVAC market products, Banas said.
“In a recent survey about their training needs, wholesaler technical specialists told us that to better serve their customers they needed to know more about Copeland products, especially with the advent of digital controls and diagnostics,” Banas added. “Technology has changed the way compressors and condensing units are used and serviced, and the technical specialist at the wholesaler wants to be the go-to expert for contractors when they have questions or service needs.”
