Recycling organization announces HVAC market contest winners
Three companies have been named the winners of an annual contest by Thermostat Recycling Corp.
The 2014 Big Man on Planet competition winners includes Johnstone Supply, Crescent Parts & Equipment and Corken Steel Products. The annual recycling competition, which took place May 1-Oct. 31, 2014, yielded 55,912 mercury thermostats recycled by Heating Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International members.
The 2014 competition created three tiers based on company size and awarded a trophy to the distributor within each tier who recycled the most mercury thermostats. The tier No. 3 winner was Johnstone Supply, and its Rochester, Minn., branch received $1,000 for recycling the most thermostats in the competition.
The St. Louis branch of tier No. 2 division winner Crescent Parts & Equipment, received $500 for recycling the most thermostats within the tier.
Corken Steel Products’ Florence, Ky., branch received $500 for recycling the most in tier No. 1.
