Residents of Texas and North Carolina were recipients of the Women in the Trades scholarships from the Dwyer Group.

The scholarships are awarded to women studying and/or pursuing a career in the HVAC, plumbing, appliance repair or electrical industry or to female employees at franchise locations for any of the Dwyer Group’s service brands.

The fall 2014 winners were: Katelyn Bateman of Valley Mills, Texas, enrolled at Texas State Technical College, studying to be an electrician; Molly Olesky of Wilmington, N.C., enrolled at Cape Fear Community College studying to be an electrician; and Shellie Ellis of Austin, Texas, a Mr. Appliance employee taking courses to become an appliance technician.

“We are very proud of this semester’s recipients, and we look forward to watching them achieve their career goals in the service industry,” said Dina Dwyer-Owens, co-chairwoman of the Dwyer Group. “This scholarship allows us to open doors to the service industry and offer women interested in a trade profession the opportunity to further their expertise and experience. The fall 2014 winners show great passion and promise towards achieving great things, and we are happy to be part of that journey.”
