HVAC market product first to win Ameristar Award
The Blue Tube UV ultraviolet germicidal light system from Fresh-Aire UV became the first HVAC market product to win the Ameristar Award for packaging design.
The Jupiter, Fla.-based manufacturer received the award at a June 10 ceremony held during the 2014 EastPack trade show in New York.
Designed by Plastics Ingenuity in Cross Plains, Wis., the recyclable packaging — a 27-inch, elliptically shaped tube featuring blue-colored front graphics — generates an in-bound freight savings of 70 percent and a 70 percent reduction of warehousing space, company officials say. The package also requires only a five-minute assembly and product loading time, which is a 50 percent labor reduction compared to former packaging.
“The packaging’s aesthetics and design offers HVAC wholesalers multiple display merchandising possibilities, while service technicians can use the back panel’s UV information to enhance their sales presentations to homeowners,” said Fresh-Aire UV President Chris Willette, inventor of the Blue Tube UV.
