This year marks the 50th anniversary for Van Mark Products Corp., the portable bending brake machine company Gene Van Cleve started in 1964.
Cleve started the company after working as a stone mason and installer of siding and windows, company officials said. He realized workers like him needed tools that could easily be taken on jobsites to make projects more efficient.
Based in the Detroit suburb of Farmington Hills, Mich., today the company sells its equipment globally for residential roofing, siding, window and gutter installation, metal roofing and post frame construction.
The company is run today by Cleve’s son, Jeff.
