HVAC and plumbing wholesaler Ferguson has broken ground on a new distribution center in Celina, Ohio.
The 400,000-square-foot facility, which sits on 77 acres, will create 70 new jobs in the state, officials said. It is scheduled to open this fall.
The proximity to other Midwest Ferguson locations made Celina a good choice, said Al Byrd, Ferguson’s senior supply chain vice president.
“Our distribution centers are the heart of our supply chain,” Byrd said. “The Celina DC (distribution center) will allow us to get our customers the products they need quickly, even the next day. We are excited to grow our infrastructure in the Midwest and better serve our customers while also providing new jobs for the region.”
And the prospect of new jobs was especially exciting for Jared Ebbing, economic development director for Mercer County, where the facility will be located.
“We’re very fortunate and blessed that they found us and gave us the time to explain who we are as a people and how great a match we believe this county is for a company with Ferguson’s reputation,” he said. “Logistically speaking, I think it’s a perfect fit for this area. It’s a definitely a win for the region and the state of Ohio as a whole.”
Ferguson has 11 distribution centers across North America.
