Metalcon International has selected a breast cancer charity to support in conjunction with this fall’s trade show.

Officials are hoping to donate $25,000 to It’s The Journey Inc., which produces a two-day walk to raise funds to fight breast cancer in Georgia.

Metalcon will take place Oct. 1-3 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. It’s The Journey’s 11th annual walk will be held two days later.

The event has raised more than $9 million in the past decade. Show officials are confident they can reach their contribution target.

“With full participation by exhibitors, attendees, speakers, vendors and staff, our goal will be easily achieved,” said Claire Kilcoyne, Metalcon’s show director. “Further, we hope many within this circle will also join our Metalcon team — the Metal Magnolias — in the two-day walk. By building on the comradeship and team spirit engendered during the show, we can fulfill our hope of offering generous support to this worthy charity. Working to fulfill this sponsorship is also a wonderful journey that we can enjoy together.”
