Mitsubishi Electric opens ductless division headquarters
Mitsubishi Electric marked the grand opening Wednesday of the U.S. headquarters of its ductless HVAC division.
Located on Satellite Boulevard in Suwanee, Ga., it’s the fifth headquarters in the state’s Gwinnett County for the division since it started operations in 1992.
The company said it plans to hire more than 100 engineers and warehouse workers in the next three years to staff the 550,000-square-foot facility.
“We’re investing in Georgia so we can be more competitive and quicker to market,” said Kenichiro Yamanishi, president and CEO of Tokyo-based Mitsubishi Electric Corp. “This warehouse will hold literally tons of product ready to ship anywhere in the Americas. Our engineering center will host a wide depth of talent. Products designed and stored here will not only serve the U.S. market but the global market as well.”
The new structure, which was designed by Macgregor Associates Architects of Atlanta, meets the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards, officials said. It includes a training center, engineering center and warehouse.
“In the 20 years we have called Gwinnett County home, we have outgrown four offices,” said Shuji Morisaki, senior vice president and general manager of Mitsubishi Electric U.S. Cooling & Heating Division. “Our division has experienced double-digit growth over the past five years, and we fully expect this to continue moving forward. We’re pleased to be in this spacious new location that accommodates our continuing expansion.”
