Bradford White Corp. provided $15,000 to fund the 2010 student scholarships from the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Educational Foundation and PHCC National Auxiliary.

The scholarships are designed to attract and support new talent that is essential to the plumbing and HVACR industry.

Half of the 2010 scholarship money was awarded to Jason Todd Calhoun and Mark Christy, both of Carlsbad, Calif. Both are enrolled as second-year apprentices in the plumbing apprentice program offered by the PHCC of San Diego association chapter.

Kevin Reich of Laurel, Md., also a recipient, is enrolled at Howard Community College and will be transferring to the University of Maryland to complete a four-year degree in mechanical engineering.

“The professional contractors who install Bradford White water heaters every day make our support of these awards possible,” said Fred Vattimo, director of corporate advertising for Bradford White. “Being a major supporter of education for current and future professional contractors is an easy choice for us.”

The remaining $7,500 in Bradford White’s scholarship support was set to be awarded through the PHCC National Auxiliary with the winners to announced during the PHCC-National Association convention Oct. 27-30 in Las Vegas.
