Trane dealer Lanz Heating & Cooling Inc. of Champaign, Ill., was featured in an October episode of ABC-TV’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

The company helped install the home’s heating and cooling system. The Lanz dealership is featured in the episode’s home building project for the Montgomery family of Philo, Ill., whom recently gave up a six-figure income to take over operation of the Champaign Salt & Light food pantry.

“When our team first became involved in the project, we learned the episode was scheduled to air at the start of National Volunteer Week,” said company manager Troy Lanz. “The Montgomery family’s work with the Salt & Light food pantry is a strong testament to the power of volunteer efforts, and our contribution was a small way to say thanks for all the ways they lend a hand to our community each day.”

Trane 4-TEE variable-speed, two-stage air handlers were installed as a component of the home’s overall heating and cooling system. The installation took place overnight between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., and 90 percent of the staff at Lanz Heating & Cooling donated their time to the effort.

“When selecting the products for the home, we wanted to provide the family with equipment efficient enough to keep their heating and cooling costs as low as possible, and offered Trane’s air-handling products as a solution toward that goal,” said Lanz. “The air handlers we selected feature a fan motor that will vary its speed based on the home’s heating and cooling needs at any given time, meaning the family can enjoy a comfortable home air environment without the worry of expensive energy costs.”

The Trane air handlers also include Air-Tite construction that helps to seal in conditioned air to reduce heating and cooling costs, and Trane’s Comfort-R, which is designed to provide more consistent temperatures, greater humidity control and better air heat for the home.

“It was impressive to see so many people from our community pulling together on this project, and we were happy to be part of the effort,” Lanz said. “The family is well deserving of this home build, and of all the product donations that make it a home built to last.”
