The U.S. Green Building Council is soliciting comment on its new standard for neighborhoods.

The public now has a chance to weigh in on the U.S. Green Building Council's latest proposed standard.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Neighborhood Development joins community development efforts with sustainable building practices. It was created with the input of the Congress for the New Urbanism and the Natural Resources Defense Council.

“The development of LEED for Neighborhood Development speaks to the breadth of what ‘green building’ means,” said Sophie Lambert, director of the USGBC's LEED for Neighborhood Development program.  “What was once a rating system solely designed for commercial construction, LEED is now evolving beyond single buildings to address development at the neighborhood scale.”

Public comments are being taken online through Jan. 5here.
