HVAC equipment maker American Standard Cos. formally changed its name to Trane Nov. 28, reflecting its best-known brand.

The publicly traded New Jersey-based company’s symbol on the New York Stock Exchange was changed from “ASD” to “TT” as part of the move.

“Today marks the successful completion of our separation plan announced in February,” Trane Chairman and CEO Fred Poses said. “Since then, we’ve spun off our vehicle control systems business and sold our bath and kitchen business. Our new name reflects our business focus and our global leadership in providing integrated HVAC systems, services and solutions.”

In 2006, Trane reported more than $6.8 billion in sales and employed 29,000 worldwide.
