Emerson Climate Technologies introduced the Modular Refrigerant Leak Detection Sensor. The company says it is the retail industry’s first refrigerant leak detector to use patented photoacoustic technology, which eliminates pumps, filters and pneumatic tubing. The manufacturer also claims that the MRLDS helps retailers stay compliant with building and environmental codes by detecting refrigerant leaks. The MRLDS’s diffusion-based technology uses normal air circulation to detect refrigerant leaks, eliminating clogged filters or the chance of water being drawn into the system. The device’s algorithms guard against false alarms generated from cleaning chemicals and propane powered floor buffers. Available with both Modbus and analog voltage connections, it can be retrofitted for many metal-oxide sensors.
