CHANTILLY, Va. - The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association's College of Fellows has awarded five scholarships worth $2,000 each.

Receiving the SMACNA College of Fellows scholarships this year were: Daniel Byrne III of Vacaville, Calif.; Patrick Gallo of Norwood, Pa.; and Anthony Sericati of Iron Mountain, Mich.

Byrne will attend the University of California-San Diego and study structural engineering. His father, Daniel Byrne II, is employed by the Marelich Mechanical Co. in Hayward, Calif. The company is a member of the Bay Area SMACNA chapter.

Gallo will attend West Chester University in West Chester, Pa., and study history and business. His mother, Christine Gallow, is employed by Ernest D. Menold Inc. of Lester, Pa. The company is a member of SMCA of Philadelphia and Vicinity.

Sericati plans to attend the Milwaukee School of Engineering in Wisconsin. His father, Donald Sericati, is the owner of Markell Co. in Iron Mountain, Mich. The company is a member of Michigan SMACNA.

SMACNA also awarded the Richard DeBrine endowed scholarship and a SMACNA scholarship.

Melissa Smuck of Rohnert Park, Calif., is recipient of the endowed scholarship, which is funded by the Bay Area SMACNA chapter. Currently, Smuck is attending California Polytechnic State University and studying secondary English education. Her father, Jim Smuck, is employed by JMS Mechanical in Petaluma, Calif. The company is a member of the Bay Area SMACNA chapter.

Callie Thompson of Trenton, Mich., has been selected as recipient of the SMACNA scholarship and will attend Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. Thompson's father is David Thompson. He is employed by ChristenDetroit in Detroit, a member of the SMACNA Metropolitan Detroit chapter.
