MINNEAPOLIS - Thermo King Corp. said that customers can purchase "Kryptonite" locks, security cables, chains, and ground anchors at the company's dealers nationally.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has recommended tighter security within the food transportation industry. The recommendation was issued to food producers, transporters, and retailers, and certain measures were listed to minimize the risk of tampering or other criminal or terrorist actions.
Among them was the FDA's recommendation that freight loading doors, trailers, and tanker trucks be secured with locks, "jimmy plates," seals, alarms or other appropriate devices. The Kryptonite products offered through Thermo King dealers include braided steel cables made for anything that needs medium to high security. The line also includes security chains made from triple heat-treated Boron Manganese steel.
Acquired in August 2001 by Ingersoll-Rand, Kryptonite is a member of the Portable Security Unit of IR's Security and Safety Sector. IR's product portfolio includes such brands as Schalge, Thermo King, Hussman, Bobcat, Club Car, Torrington, and Power Works.
