Fall protection training now a requirement in Ontario
Effective June 12, the Ontario construction regulation (Regulation 213/91) requires that: employers ensure that workers using a fall protection system are trained in its use; and training records are kept, including training dates and participants’ names; and the employer makes training records available to Ministry of Labour inspectors on request.
Failure to comply is up to $25,000 for individuals, be it employer, supervisor or worker; up to $500,000 for corporations.
Fort more information, scheduled training sessions or employer course kits contact Martyn Warren of the Canadian Safety Association of Ontario (CSAO) at 416-679-4031 or e-mail: martynwa@constructsafety.on.ca.
