There are dozens of data center cooling methods. But multitenant, shared location data center operator Involta LLC said it believes its HVAC design team has developed one of the industry’s most efficient concepts.
Taco Comfort Solutions has released the free, interactive Building Efficiency System Tool (BEST). This tool brings efficiency ratings and data together to compare the performance, life cycles and costs for any type of HVAC system early in the design process, company officials say.
“We worked very hard to craft this standard in a manner that does not stifle innovation in the data center industry while simultaneously offering criteria to help ensure energy savings,” said Ron Jarnagin, chairman of the committee that wrote the standard.
The American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ standard 90.4P, “Energy Standard for Data Centers,” would create minimum efficiency requirements for data centers.
