Short-messaging service Twitter announced Tuesday it was making some painful cuts. Unlike Facebook or even LinkedIn, Twitter has had a hard time growing users and making money.

Is that because it's less useful to businesses? What do you think? Do you use Twitter?

At SNIPS, we have more than 4,300 Twitter followers, although relatively few use the service to communicate with us. Do any of you have similar -- or different -- experiences?

Social media is a tough medium for many businesses to figure out, and that includes HVAC construction. It's constantly changing -- look at how popular MySpace was a decade ago and check it out now. It's turned into a promotion site for movies, TV and music, but the social connection opportunities that made it popular were eclipsed by Facebook.
