The typical 10-minute ride from our hotel took about 40 minutes (give or take a few) if you include the time it took to actually catch a cab—and not to mention the crazy polar vortex that hit New York City this morning. Thankfully, my editor Mike McConnell and I survived through it all and made it to AHR Expo 2014 safe and sound.

It’s like the Comic Con of the HVAC industry! This is what I thought to myself as I stepped out of the New York artic weather and into the humongous Javits Convention Center of downtown Manhattan, where this year’s AHR Expo is located.

Although I’ve never attended the world-renowned convention where people dress up like their favorite comic heroes/heroines, I’ve seen enough pictures to make a few comparisons: a ton of exhibitors, expo signs and banners galore, and a crowd of enthused attendees—minus the outlandish character costumes, of course.

Since this is my first time attending the AHR Expo, Mike made sure to go over a few more important tips before we began to tackle the large expo of HVAC and sheet metal exhibitions. I was a bit nervous at first, but once I got the hang of getting around to the different exhibitors, I was starting to feel like a pro—well, sort of.

I have quite a ways to go before I become an HVAC and sheet metal industry expert, but I’m enjoying the hands-on learning experience and certainly look forward to engaging with more companies over the next couple of days.

The only thing I’m not looking forward to is stepping back out into this crazy snowstorm that’s still happening outside. But enough about me.

Here’s what you can look forward to: getting live tweets and pics from the show on SNIPS’ Twitter and Facebook pages! Feel free to post your thoughts below!
