Good news for job growth. Approximately
157,000 private-sector jobs were added from May to June. According to some
economists, this number is way above estimated projections. The unemployment
rate is still hovering right above 9 percent, but in this economy, we will take
any good news.
Even the construction industry is sharing a
little bit of positive news. The Associated General Contractors of America found that
120 out of 337 metropolitan cities increased construction jobs between May 2010
and May 2011. The other 217 cities either lost construction jobs or stayed
stable with last year. While it’s not entirely good news, it is news that job
growth, specifically construction jobs, are moving in positive
territory.
So how is your company doing? Are you adding more
employees? Also, tell us about the region of the country you are in. Tell us if
job growth is slow or taking off.
And while we are on the
subject of jobs, make sure you check out the BNP Architecture, Engineering, Construction Career Center.
BNP, the parent company of Snips, teamed up with BirdDog to help connect those
in the construction industry with qualified workers. You can find out more
