Optimism has been easy to find at conventions so far this year.

I just returned from two more trade shows, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America's gathering in San Antonio, and the International Roofing Expo, which came to Las Vegas, one of its -- and my -- favorite cities.

Both shows seemed to be full of optimism and pretty well attended. The ACCA's Indoor Air Expo seemed especially busy. The ACCA says registrations were up 30 percent over 2010.

I was reminded of the recently concluded AHR Expo, which was also in Las Vegas. Attendance was very strong and many AHR exhibitors were very positive on trends for this year. We'll see if this early optimism stays and how the sheet metal industry fares, but I am hopeful.

How are you feeling about 2011?
