Like many people in the sheet metal and HVAC industry, I don’t think enough attention is paid to young people training for a career in the trade. So I was pleased to read an article about the HVACR class at Earnest Pruett Center of Technology in Hollywood, Ala. The technology center is an extension program for the eight high schools in the Jackson and Scottsboro Counties of Alabama.

Alabama Public Television will feature the HVACR class and its students on the program “On The Job." It will also feature jobs in the air-conditioning and refrigeration industry. That program will air on APT this Sunday, Oct. 24 at 12:30 p.m. The local NBC affiliate, WSA-TV, will then re-air the program on Oct. 26 at 9:30 p.m.

It is refreshing to see that HVAC careers are getting the spotlight on television. It’s especially refreshing to see young people who will become the future HVAC contractors and business owners.
