Seventeen states across the country are going to share over $60 million in grant money from the Department of Energy. The grants will go towards retrofit programs to help achieve better energy efficiency in commercial and residential buildings.

The news was released today by the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association. According to SMACNA, the money is coming from the $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that was passed through Congress last year. This is good news for companies that specialize in energy retrofits and weatherization. In fact, SMACNA released a link to the DOE’s interactive weatherization map. The map is a great resource for contractors who want to find out what kind of programs and energy resources are available in their state.
