As the year comes to a close, many economists
are starting to make predictions about 2010. In fact, I just finished writing a
piece about the future of the HVAC industry which will appear in our December
issue.
It seems that most reports indicate that the
construction industry will see a slight increase in productivity next year.
Other reports from the Associated General Contractors of America show
just how bad 2009 was. For example, the AGC found that construction employment
declined in 49 states last year. Some of those states saw losses in
double-digit percentages. With this in mind, have we finally seen the bottom?
Let me know how work has been in your state and whether you see indications
that construction projects are slowly coming back. I’d really like to hear some
2010 predictions from our readers.
