The inbox news lately has not been kind.

As part of my job as editor of Snips, I often scan the Web sites of newspapers across the country for local news about the sheet metal and HVAC industry.

The search engine Google makes my job easier with its news-alert service, which allows you to customize the headlines sent to your e-mail inbox each day by topic or name. A couple times a day, I receive a list of some new stories from Web sites, newspapers and TV stations that deal with sheet metal and HVAC subjects.

As of late, it's not uncommon for the headlines to reflect that a contractor or supplier is closing or laying off staff, like this story from the Topeka Capital-Journal in Kansas.

Fortunately, I do hear good news sometimes as well, like a new hire or big project secured by a contractor.

Do any of you have good news to share?
