After attending the Air Conditioning Contractors of America's convention in Colorado Springs, Colo., last week, Mr. Sheet Metal had the chance to drive up to Fort Collins, Colo., home of the New Belgium Brewing Co., with a friend.

The brewery, about 30 minutes from the Wyoming state line, has developed a cultlike following for its beers -- especially its flagship Fat Tire amber ale -- due to their high quality and limited availability. None of its beers are sold east of Chicago, making them a special treat for Mr. Sheet Metal when he travels west.

You can imagine his delight when he arrived at the brewery to see it used a corrugated metal roof. His happiness was further enhanced when he saw that the brewery's tasting room had exposed spiral ductwork.

The company's Web site, www.newbelgium.com, has some pictures.

The beer was pretty good, too.
