Sessions on recruiting veterans, improving communication and keeping employees happy are among the seminar topics scheduled for the ACCA’s annual conference this month.

The Air Conditioning Contractors of America said it chose speakers based on their knowledge in communications, veteran recruitment and professional development.

“ACCA brings together the most innovative and forward-thinking leaders in the HVACR contracting industry and gives contractors the tools to ‘up the ante,’” said ACCA President and CEO Paul T. Stalknecht, referring to the conference slogan. “Sometimes contractors find themselves stagnating and they’re nervous about putting more on the table, but ACCA’s educational offerings make it easier for business owners and operators to recognize these times and the benefits from putting more on the table. ACCA knows that sometimes you have to go big if you want to move into that next stage of business growth.”

The conference and its Indoor Environment and Energy Expo are scheduled for Feb. 12-14, at the Gaylord National Harbor near Washington, D.C.

Sessions are to include “Hire More Veterans Today,” “Old School Work Meets New School Employees — Tips for Success,” “Navigating Difficult Conversations” and “I Need Help! Proven Methods to Find and Keep Experienced Residential Technicians, Plumbers and Electricians.”

“ACCA’s current chairman, Don Langston, set ACCA on a mission to help contractors find the next generation of employees,”. Stalknecht said. “To be successful at hiring and retaining the next generation, contractors must know how to address the communication gaps between baby boomers and millennials. ACCA’s 2018 conference speakers will show contractors how to overcome these obstacles and recruit and retain professional staff.”
