60-year-old purse found in ductwork
Owner says she has no idea how it got there
Ductwork may designed to carry air, but apparently a lot of other things find their way in there.
The Chicago Tribune online recently ran a story about a black leather purse found in a Glencoe, Illinois, library’s ductwork during a 2017 HVAC renovation project.
The purse contained lipstick, one earring, a brush, a couple black-and-white photos and an appointment reminder card for a dentist. It was estimated to be at least 50 years old.
After the story was picked up by the paper, they were able to track down the owner, a woman who volunteered at the library in 1959 and 60 and who has lived in California for almost five decades.
But she has no memory of owning the purse or how it became enclosed in the duct.
