More than 50 members of the National Tooling and Machining Association will observe today as Manufacturing Day by hosting student tour groups or opening their facilities to the public.

The annual event is designed to increase awareness of the careers available in manufacturing.

“Today’s manufacturing offers a wide range of career options,” said NTMA President Dave Tilstone.  “These are high-tech jobs that require special skills.  Manufacturing Day is a good opportunity to explain to young people and their families how they can put themselves on track for success in manufacturing.

“Manufacturing Day is more than a one-time event,” Tilstone addeed. “While many NTMA members will be hosting events on Friday, the spirit of Manufacturing Day lives on throughout the year.  We know that the more people learn about modern manufacturing, the easier it will be to recruit the workforce our industry needs to remain competitive for the future.”
