Thermostat Recycling Corp. adds staff
Thermostat Recycling Corp. recently added a new staff member.
Janet Tirado is now the organization’s director of marketing and communications.
“Janet is a highly-regarded communications expert who possesses a wealth of experience in government and nonprofits,” said Ryan Kiscaden, the group’s executive director. “She has a proven track record as an agent of change, and a laser-focused vision on how to take TRC where it needs to be in the next five years.”
A onetime staffer in former Pennsylvania state representative Bryan Lentz’s office, she worked to publicize issues such as repeat violent offenders and clean energy.
“The TRC and its board of directors have been quietly ridding the environment of tons of mercury contaminants for nearly two decades,” said Tirado. “Their accomplishments, thus far, are nothing short of astonishing. Now, I am excited to do my part to protect our environment, our citizens, and future generations from being adversely impacted by these toxins through my work with this great organization.”
Thermostat Recycling Corp. was founded by Honeywell, White-Rodgers and General Electric and represents 30 onetime manufacturers of mercury-using thermostats. The program allows HVAC contractors and homeowners to safely dispose of thermostats through participating wholesalers, retailers and municipal collection centers.
