While it’s not telling members how they should vote, the Heating, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International is hoping to encourage the HVAC industry go to the polls in November.

The wholesalers group has started a get-out-the-vote effort, encouraging members to tell employees it’s important for them to vote in the 2016 presidential election.

“This is a crucial voting year, even as major elections go,” said HARDI’s vice president government affairs and business development, Jon Melchi. “This is shaping up to be a pivotal election so it’s critical that everyone take responsibility by voting. This campaign intends to spread awareness of that fact.”

HARDI has also created a tool kit that includes printed literature and messages designed to be distributed through email and social media with information on why it’s important to go to the polls Nov. 8.
