The new touch-screen thermostat with proprietary hexagon interface from York is engineered and designed to integrate with any conventionally wired HVAC system. Near-field communication, a set of short-range wireless technologies, and a dedicated distributor app, available on Android-equipped devices, allow the contractor to preconfigure settings before arriving at a residence. Installed systems will receive software updates automatically via over-the-air updates when connected to Wi-Fi. The thermostat also connects homeowners to their HVAC systems via their smartphones, tablets or computers. If connectivity is lost or the temperature in the home exceeds pre-set limits, a push notification is sent to the homeowner’s mobile device.
