Eric Newton has joined Seattle-based software firm Dexter & Chaney as the company’s new senior vice president of sales and marketing.

In his new position, Newton will oversee Dexter & Chaney’s sales and marketing initiatives and will focus on continuing the growth of the company’s Spectrum software in the construction market.

“Eric is an energetic leader with great ideas, and he knows how to build winning teams,” said John Chaney, co-founder and CEO of the company. “He really knows this industry, knows technology and knows what it takes to grow a company. We’re happy to have him on board.”

Newton was previously the senior vice president of vertical markets for Comdata Inc., where he created a new market in construction for the company that grew to more than 1,000 clients and $35 million in revenue, officials said.
