A sales manager at Canadian HVAC market distributor Ecco Supply has been given an honor from the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers.

Norm Grusnick was given the ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award at the society’s recent annual conference in Atlanta.

Grusnick was given the award from society President Tom Phoenix. Winners must meet 15 criteria, including serving on several committees and donating time to ASHRAE.

He is one of only two Canadians to receive the award, Ecco officials said. Grusnick has been a society member for more than 25 years and has participated in local, regional and national society events. He is a member of the ASHRAE duct design technical committee.

Grusnick earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of British Columbia in 1980 and is a licensed professional engineer registered in British Columbia. He is also a member of the Sheet Metal and Air-Conditioning Contractors’ National Association and the Mechanical Contractors Association of British Columbia. Grusnick has worked for Ecco for 22 years.

He said his favorite work within ASHRAE is mentoring young engineers.
