Tony Adolfs, SMACNA Greater Chicago’s executive director, has been named 2015 Chapter Executive of the Year.

The award, formally known as the Petersen-Dunn Award, is presented annually to the SMACNA chapter executive who has made a substantive contribution to their local association and to SMACNA as a national group.

“This year’s executive is the epitome of a well-rounded exec,” said 2014-2015 SMACNA President Thomas Szymczak. “When SMACNA needs him he’s there… on critical legislative issues, on best practices, convention matters, labor/management opportunities and more.

“He was the prime engineer merging two major chapters into the second largest chapter in SMACNA,” Szymczak added. “He worked tirelessly with his contractors to better unify them and coordinate their collective bargaining agreements. During the merger, his members did not miss a beat where delivery of services was concerned. Today, they are even better served as a result of this successful combination.”

In 2003, Adolfs received the SMACNA Chapter Executive Legislative Advocate of the Year Award for pursuing issues of high priority to SMACNA and its members.
