Spectronics Corp. says it has introduced a hassle-free way to quickly and permanently seal refrigerant leaks in compressors, condensers, evaporators, O-rings and hoses with its Spectroline Cool Seal AC leak sealer. The new tool, which meets chemical stability standards for the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, seals leaks as large as 0.02 inches and can also remain safely in the system to prevent future leaks, which is a cost-friendly alternative to replacing parts of older HVAC systems.

Unlike traditional leak sealers, Cool Seal is nonflammable, has no storage-related safety issues, no need for system pump down, and allows the technician to see the contents injected into the system. Cool Seal cartridges — which treat from 2 to 12 tons of cooling — also have the highest pounds-per-square-inch rating (more than 600 PSI) and the easiest delivery system, the company says.
