A crane performing construction work at a Midtown Manhattan building dropped a large, four-ton HVAC unit nearly 30 stories on May 31, injuring 10 people.

In a failed attempt to lift the unit through a hole on the 30th floor, the load fell and crashed into the middle of Madison Ave., near East 38th St., officials say.

Several streets along Madison from 37th to 39th were evacuated due to fears of the building's facade collapsing, according to a report by The NY Post.
