The Indoor Air Quality Association is now part of ASHRAE.

The merger was approved during the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ 2015 winter conference.

“We are excited about the opportunities presented by this consolidation,” said society President Tom Phoenix. “It opens the door to alignment of ASHRAE and IAQA programs to create high-impact resources for building professionals around the globe.”

The two groups have been working on the merger since July 2014. Under the agreement, the 2,600-member air quality group will maintain its own board and identity while operating independently within ASHRAE.

This is an historic event for both associations and has great promise for growth and development for both organizations,” IAQA President Kent Rawhouser said. “The opportunities and possibilities for members are only limited by our own imaginations.  IAQA and ASHRAE are committed to growing and developing the IAQA brand. The consolidation will open new avenues for programs and benefits for our members.”
