The Building Performance Institute is seeking public comment on two proposed HVAC construction standards that have recently been accepted by the American National Standards Institute.

The first is a proposed update to “Standard Practice for the Standardized Qualification of Whole-House Energy Savings Predictions by Calibration to Energy Use History,” aka the Delta standard.

It specifies a calculation process of standardized predicted savings by using the difference (delta) between the modeled energy usage before and after upgrades using approved building energy use simulation software.

The second is a proposal a new ANSI standard quantifying savings from HVAC market energy efficiency retrofits at the “portfolio” level. “Protocol for Quantifying Energy Efficiency Savings in Residential Buildings,” is co-sponsored by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America and BPI.

Anyone interested in commenting can email standards@bpi.org before April 12.
