Code officials can now have a better understanding of the residential HVAC design process, thanks to a new video series released by the Air Conditioning Contractors of America.

The association says the three-part series, “What Code Officials Need to Know about HVAC System Design,” gives an overview of the steps involved in doing a load calculation, the equipment selection process, and duct sizing in accordance with the ACCA manuals.

“Code officials and inspectors are under the gun to uphold code requirements, but few resources are available to help them understand the standards that contractors are using,” said ACCA President and CEO Paul T. Stalknecht. “These training videos provide the understanding for inspectors to easily ascertain whether the contractors have followed code-specified design criteria.”

The videos are available on the ACCA website here.
