“Smart” thermostat maker Nest Labs has become a NATE-recognized training provider, which means its courses qualify for continuing education credits.
The thermostat installer program qualifies attendees for two credits under North American Technician Excellence certification program.
The course is part of the Nest Pro Tour, where company officials are visiting sites to explain how HVAC construction contractors can grow their businesses with Nest products.
Nest Labs’ Internet-controlled thermostats, carbon monoxide detectors and other products are designed to make traditional HVAC market products more interesting, said Gene LaNois, who runs Nest’s contractor-oriented efforts.
“That’s exactly what Nest is all about,” he said. “We are very proud about the recent awareness that we have brought to a traditional ‘trade’ occupation. We think we have a chance of making HVACR and other unloved items in the home exciting to be involved in again.”
Working with NATE furthers that goal, LaNois added.
“Nest believes in bringing advanced and thoughtful technology to the HVACR industry, and we are excited to team up with NATE to offer our training programs to the professional installer community,” he said. “This is an incredible opportunity to help installers keep up to date on the comfort, energy savings, and learning capabilities of the Nest Learning Thermostat.”
