Thousands of Emcor Group employees will wear pink hard hats to mark October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In six cities — Elkhart, Ind.; LaJolla, Calif.; San Francisco; New Haven, Conn.; Phoenix; and New York City — workers from the company’s sheet metal works and HVAC construction subsidiaries will form a human pink ribbon to boost awareness of the issue.

“This is the sixth consecutive year thousands of Emcor employees have worn Emcor pink hard hats, challenging the “macho” image of the construction industry, supporting family, friends, colleagues, and clients who have been and could be affected by breast cancer,” said Emcor President and CEO Tony Guzzi. “The enthusiasm for this program continues to grow, and we’ve been given specific feedback regarding the positive impact this has on peoples’ decision to go for a screening — we know it is making a difference.  At Emcor, the majority of our field employees wear a hard hat on a daily basis for personal protection, and we are proud of their commitment to wear a pink hard hat during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to help raise awareness of this disease and the importance of screening."
