Samsung buys HVAC market company Quietside
Samsung Electronics America Inc. announced Aug. 19 that it has purchased HVAC sales distributor Quietside Corp. Terms were not disclosed.
The move will give Quietside better access to Samsung’s line of HVAC construction products and will allow the California-based company to boost its staff and infrastructure, officials said.
Quietside has been a master HVAC market distributor for Samsung since 1997. Officials with the South Korean electronics giant said buying Quietside will allow it to expand HVAC sales operations, targeting business-to-business customers. An expanded green HVAC lineup is also expected.
Quietside founder Sang Lee will remain as chief executive officer, Samsung said.
“Samsung is excited to deepen our long relationship with Quietside by making this acquisition,” said Samsung Electronics America President Tim Baxter. “Samsung always looks to bring innovation and new technology to our customers and we look forward to working with Sang and his team to bring that same commitment to selling HVAC products to customers across North America.”
Lee said he was excited about becoming part of Samsung.
“The acquisition of Quietside by Samsung provides a terrific benefit to our customers and employees,” he said. “The rapid growth of our product categories in North America provides a great opportunity for us to scale our business rapidly to meet the needs of the market. The operational capabilities of Samsung and the strength of the Samsung brand will mean incredible opportunities for us all going forward.”
