“Smart” thermostat maker Ecobee has a new chief executive officer.

Osama Arafat is now the Toronto-based HVAC market company’s co-CEO.

Arafat will work with current CEO Stewart Lombard to introduce new products for use in HVAC sales and HVAC construction.

“Ecobee is growing at a rapid pace and Osama’s experience of leading high-potential tech companies and taking them to the next level is invaluable as we seize the huge opportunity ahead of us,” Lombard said.

Arafat was most recently CEO of Internet service provider Q9 Networks. He previously worked with Lombard at J.L. Albright Venture Partners and Isolation Systems.

“I’m excited to be joining Ecobee at such a defining time in the company’s history,” Arafat said. “Stuart and I have a great history of building successful companies together, and I see enormous opportunity in this organization and industry.”
